Well… my first blog and what an amp to talk about.
Balanced Audio Technology BAT VK-60 (circa 1995). Had a pair of them in for repair for just over a year. Way too long but with good reason and an understanding owner. 38.5kgs each, Russian twin triode 6C33C output valves, all differential design from input to output. Absolute beasts. I had to make a stand to work on them safely.
Unfortunately this batch had problems with the septar sockets and I solved this with some good advice from Neil S Kovács at www.thevalvestore.com.au by sourcing custom made sockets from www.bartola.co.uk/valves/2016/03/20/teflon-sockets/ All the way from Italy. Luciano was very good to deal with (via Google Translate). Very responsive and cleared up a small problem with the first batch quickly.
Addition to that there was fixing up old repairs from elsewhere and modding the earlier PCB to later resistor changes. Some capacitor changing add a couple of other faults to the mix and well…
